Art Supplies

· Strathmore Pure Paper
· Natural Corduroy Paper, 8.5" x 11"
· White Craft Paper, 8.5" x 11"
· A9 Transluscent Vellum Envelopes, 5.75" x 8.75"
· Raffia or Ribbon
· Scissors or X-ACTO® Knife
· Glue
· Hole Punch

Instructions

  1. Choose four sheets of Corduroy paper, two different colors. These will be used for the front and back covers.
  2. Cover the back of one of the Corduroy sheets (the color you want for the outside cover) with glue and place the other color on top to adhere the two sheets together. The second sheet will be the inside cover. Repeat with the other two sheets.
  3. Punch four binding holes along the left edge of the front cover - from top put one hole at 1.375", one hole at 4", one hole at 6.75", and the last hole at 9.375".
  4. Take the back cover and place it under the front cover so that the outside of the back cover is facing down and the outside of the front cover is up. You should have coordinating colors on the outside. Place a mark on the back cover using the front cover as a guide for the holes. Punch holes in the back cover.
  5. Using the front cover as a guide, take the sheets of White Craft paper, line them up and punch holes along the left side.
  6. Set aside one Translucent Vellum envelope for every two sheets of White Craft paper. To punch holes in envelopes use the front cover as a guide. Place bottom of envelope along spine edge, center envelope between binding holes of front cover. Punch corresponding holes.
  7. Assemble book by layering between the front and back covers, paper and envelopes (two sheets of paper to one envelope) until you have used all the pages. Line up the holes and tie with raffia or ribbon. Be sure to bind loosely so that your journal will have room to expand as you fill it with momentos.
